Merida certainly had a happy ending, but it had nothing to do with romance. ![]() Merida (Brave) Brave is a charming Disney movie from 2012 which tells the story of Merida, a bow-wielding Scottish princess who absolutely refuses to let her parents betroth her to one of the neighbouring kingdom’s sons. ![]() Merida saves her mother just before Mor’du appears and overpowers the clans. With help from her brothers, who also have transformed into bears by inadvertently eating the spell cake, Merida gets out of her room and rides after her father into the forest while fixing the tapestry on horseback. Elinor eats the cake and soon afterward, succumbs to the cake’s curse, which turns her into a bear who regains her human senses but is unable to speak. The witch conjures a cake for Merida, who returns to the castle and presents it to her mother. While there’s no new Brave movie in the works at Pixar, fans of Merida still have something to look forward to: the 2021 film Raya and the Last Dragon. Merida is meant to exemplify bravery, athleticism, and other less-typical princess traits that create a substantive role model for children.Įven though Brave 2 is unlikely, Merida fans still have a new Pixar movie to look forward to. While some princess have goals that extend beyond romance, Brave is the first of these films that does not show a happy ending replete with handsome prince and happily-ever-after. Merida repairs the tapestry and rides out after her father. Merida escapes with the assistance of her brothers, who have also eaten the enchanted cake and are now bear cubs. Mistaking the queen for Mor’du and thinking it has eaten his wife, Fergus pursues the bear with the other clans, locking Merida in the castle.
